I know I am exactly a month late but this momma has been truly enjoying all of her precious baby snuggles and naps while she can! Here is a little bit of her birth story! My water of course just happened to break, leading into several of the coldest days on record. It broke around 9 am Monday morning. At that point I called Brent and told him what had happened. After that I called the hospital and they highly encouraged me to come in. Brent then left work, rushed home, and we headed to the hospital. For some reason when my water has broke in the past, it doesn’t jump-start my body into labor like you see in the movies. I usually need a little medication to get things going. We arrived at the hospital just before 1 pm. It was at that point I initially got check out and send over right away to the L & D floor. After checked checked in Brent and I walked the big circle on the floor hoping it would get things started. It was around 4 pm when the nurse checked me for a second time but I was still at 4 cm and not making any progress. My Doctor started me on Pitocin and at 6 pm I was checked again and still had not made any progress. So they kept upping the meds and around 10 pm I finally became complete and was finally able to start pushing!! This labor was really easy, I only had to push two times. Even though the labor was short I was glad it was over! I was able to start enjoying our time with her.
Leading up to her birth I had my camera and bag all ready! We were up all night and into Tuesday, enjoying everyone’s company. My healing process was normal and when we woke up Wednesday, my Doctor said we were cleared for Discharge. The temperature outside was at a record low of -45 degrees windchill. We were definitely ready to have little Amelia all snuggled up in her warm home. Inside our hospital room was even so cold, so we were definitely ready to leave. Plus, we were really missing our other three kiddos! At this point I still hadn’t gotten any pictures of her in the hospital, so I decided to quickly snap a few. This is such a precious time!! With all my children I have made sure to always get it captured. They only have that flaky skin, wrinkly hands and toes, and that fresh baby smell for a short time!
Hope you enjoy a handful of Amelia’s Mini Fresh 48 Session!
